I'm on windows 11 and opening the graphics settings crashes the game, even in compat mod

Hi! I’m a French translator and indie game tester. I’d love to support your project if you ever need help with testing or French localization. Let me know! :)”

2008-2009. Me and my friend spending entire nights making our kingdom for keflings together. I'm married now and my wife wanted to play some sort of "idle-game" where you still did your own thing. I remembered this game and lamented that I wouldn't be able to play again due to the XBLA being a relic.

Thank you so much for keeping this game going. I tipped because NinjaBee deserves it. Keflings is why humans invented videogames.

I'm curious, is there a reason why you're not releasing this on Steam if you're releasing WoK there?

(+1)

Sure, a few reasons!

1. It's been quite a bit of work to make a quality Steam-friendly version of AWoK.  I'd hate to do that much work again for AKfK especially because...

2. AWoK, as a sequel made 2 years later, is bigger, better, has a bunch of quality of life improvements, etc.

Some people like both, especially for nostalgia reasons, so it's good that AKfK is available here, but I don't expect AKfK to be as popular as AWoK on Steam, and we still don't even know if AWoK will sell well at all... 😅

*crosses fingers*

Completely understandable, I'm very happy you're bringing AWoK to Steam and I'll be sure to let all my friends know as well!

Gah yall do <3 Loving all my favorite indies coming back around lately

Do yall have a discord? If not I would love to build yall a small discord. This game has been on my mind, and would love to support getting word of them into the gaming community again

Looks like you found it, but for anybody else looking, you can find our Discord server here:

I used to play this on my cousin's xbox console many years ago, I recently remembered the music of the game and then the name, good to know it is possible to play this today. Thanks

Considering you guys are working on a remaster of WoK, any chance we could see this version be remade as DLC for WoK? I would love to play this but the player models in this just make me feel icky since I played exclusively with my XBL avatar, and the remake avatars feel like a good middle ground (so long as we get customization ofc...)

Also, am I correct in assuming WoK will have all DLC bundled in for free?

Howdy!

We haven't finalized the plan for DLC in AWoK.  It won't be available at launch.  It probably won't be free, but it'll be inexpensive.  We expect to release something free at some point, but not sure what yet.  AKfK as DLC is an interesting idea, but I don't think it'd have much to offer for all the work it'd take!  I think we'd rather use DLC to tell a new story instead.

For people who bought the game before it releases on steam, are we going to have to buy the game again on Steam? Or will we have the chance to download the Trial version on Steam and use the licensing key we bought beforehand to turn it to the full game?

Hi!  Interesting question.

These are two different games.  A Kingdom for Keflings (this game) is on itch.io.  A World of Keflings (the sequel) is coming soon on Steam.  (We plan to release A World of Keflings on itch.io at some point as well, if you prefer buying here.)

We did drop the price of Kingdom here to better reflect its status as an older smaller game.  The second game (released 2 years after the first) is much more.  If you're unhappy with your purchase here, we can try to get you a refund through itch.io.  If you feel this game should be delisted or you're still unhappy, let me know!  Players keep telling me they like Kingdom for nostalgia reasons and don't want it to go away.  We don't currently plan on releasing Kingdom elsewhere, just here on itch.io.
